Rock a bye baby

In a few weeks one of my nephews will be one year old. I took some photos of him last year as a newborn, and the last time my sisters and I got together I couldn't resist taking a few "anniversary" shots while he was sleeping in his carseat.

Sisters

When we three shared a tiny attic room, it seemed like we couldn't put enough space between us.  Now I'm grateful that we've settled within 150 miles from each other.  What a blessing it is to be able to get together once in a while, to see how we're each raising our own children.  I love my younger sisters.

Stuck in a Box

"Mom!  Mom!"

"Ta-da!"

"Look!  I'm stuck in a box!"

"I'm stuck in a box.  Ha ha ha ha!"

"Wait a minute. . ."

"I'm stuck in a box!"

"MOM, I'M STUCK IN A BOX!!!!!"

(And yes, at this point I put down the camera and released her from the box).

Triathlon

Several weeks ago my husband ran as part of a team in our local triathlon.  We appreciate our neighbors inviting our family to participate with them. 

Mutiny

So some days my kids cooperate very well when I want to experiment with my camera and/or flashes. Other days, well. . .

Shallow depth of field does not work well when your subject is spinning and pouting.

"Sweetheart, hold your dress out and pretend you're a fairy."

Ha!  We caught a smile (and a dress wrapped around her shoulders).

"Oh, come on,  I didn't even make you stand in front of a background!"

After this photo, we gave up and made lunch. :-)
