I appreciate the opportunity I had to take senior portraits for some friends last week. Their kids were incredibly photogenic, and never made a murmur of complaint.

High Flying Antics
"You want us to do what?!"
My kids thought I'd finally lost it. I was asking them to jump on the couch. I am usually a strict mother, especially when it comes to the proper use of furniture, but to practice a certain type of photo, I needed action. And it was below freezing outside, not to mention dark. So the couch had to be sacrificed.
My kids' faith in photography has been renewed.

My Mother in Law
When I married my husband I didn't realize I would be gaining a second mother who would grow to be one of my best friends. It's hard to photograph her, because she'd rather focus on others than on herself, but I caught this candid shot of her with a grandchild at our family Christmas party. Every minute of her time is spent doing something; she's never idle. And she is happiest when serving others. She's been through heartache and frustration in her life, and continues to face struggles, but she fights onward, never giving up; her energy and compassion is endless. I love this woman.
